The Seaside Gallery
Perhaps it’s my imagination, but 30A seems to attract a disproportionately large number of extremely talented artists. Some might have toiled in obscurity if not for the vision and energy of Anne Hunter, owner of World Six Gallery and World Six Boutique in Rosemary Beach. The gallery is a showcase for contemporary experimental art, while the boutique offers jewelry, art and apparel. Anne came to the area several years ago when she opened Fonville Press at Alys Beach. Next, she conceptualized and created Ceruleans in Watercolor’s Town Center. Now, Anne has focused her talent and passion on the artists she represents at her new boutique and gallery in Rosemary Beach. One of the artists she represents is Justin Gaffrey. An award-winning chef and restaurateur, Gaffrey sold his restaurant, Café Sublime, in 1999 and just six years later was named “Artist of the Year” by Walton County’s Tourist Development Council. Gaffrey creates bold, colorful works using impasto acrylics, applied to canvas with a palate knife. His studio is a Blue Mountain Beach landmark. Not one to rest on his laurels, Gaffrey continues to experiment with new techniques and styles.
